Mater Dei's Student Service Department plays a vital role in assisting students as they develop their academic plans for college. College guidance is given to students and families regarding the admission process, scholarships, and financial aid opportunities. The resources and tools available to Mater Dei students as they begin their college reseach and application process include:
FAST START
FAST START is a challenging program that enables Mater Dei juniors and seniors to get a head start on their college degree by taking college courses at Brookdale Community College. Students participating in the FAST START program receive college credit from Brookdale; all successfully completed college courses will be reflected as enrichment courses on their Mater Dei transcript. Students earning a final grade of "B" or higher in their FAST START program will be reimbursed by Mater Dei for all Brookdale tuition and fees (excluding the college's $25 application fee).
Students interested in the FAST START program are required to successfully complete Brookdale's Placement Test in order to be eligible for participation and must have a GPA of 92 or higher. Mater Dei students participating in the FAST START program may enroll in any day, evening or Saturday courses at Brookdale (excluding courses beginning with an "08" or "09" code), however those courses cannot interfer with the student's schedule at Mater Dei.
